Re: 5 year x visa
Sorry if I got it wrong but are we talking about the 5-year VISA for upto 180 days stay at a time? If so I am on the second one.
I sent the app to Indian High Commission in London by post along with passport, Postal Orders and Special Delivery envelops they ask for. Got it back in about 2 weeks. Bit on the expensive side but no hassle. |
Re: 5 year x visa
Blue Max, well done, we were talking about 5 year x visas, but a 5 year tourist visa will do me (leave every 180 days).
Are you of Indian origin?. Did you supply any extra paperwork?. What was the cost? Sorry about the questions, but not many people are getting this visa. |
Re: 5 year x visa
Sorry Steve, I am a newbie here. Did not know anything about the 'x' visa.
I was born in Kerala but that was no help at all. Cos, for PIO card, the Indian High Commission asks for proof that I do not have. Such as my old Indian Passport that they themselves asked me to surrender when I became a UK Citizen. So I keep applying for the 5 year tourist visa (180 days max stay at a time). No extra paperwork was needed. Don't remember how much I paid but current fees are shown at http://in.vfsglobal.co.uk/visafees.aspx A flat that I am buying in Cochin, Kerala will be complete by this winter. Bit worried now after hearing what is happening in Goa. I hope that other state governments have better sense. |

Re: 5 year x visa
See my post above. It went for moderation and got delayed.
Me getting a 5-year visa has nothing to do with Indian origin. If I had documents that they want to prove that I am of Indian origin, I would have applied for a PIO card or an OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) which is for life. I had also made another post with text from my visa. May be it will appear after the mods have approved it. So hold on to your asses fellas!

Re: 5 year x visa
For reasons already stated, I am, in the eyes of the Indian High Commission, of NON Indian origin. As such I can not obtain PIO card or obtain OCI (Overseas Indian Citizenship)
For the 5-year visa, I sent off the normal application forms and my British passport. No other documents, what so ever, were asked for or sent. some extracts from my current visa: Name ..... .... ...... Type: X Date of Issue: 22-Sep-06 Date of Expiry: 21 Sep-11 No. of Entries: Multiple No of Children ....... Passport No. ......... Tourist Visa. Non-Extendable Registration required within 14 days of arrival in India for visas valid for more than 180 days. Not valid for prohibited, restricted and cantonment areas. There is also a rubber stamp in green which state: "Stay during each visit shall not exceed 180 days." In my previous 5-year visa, the type is stated as: X VISA |

Don't remember how much I paid; it was two years ago. But "More than 1 year tourist visa valid for a maximum stay of 180 days per visit" is £90 according to http://in.vfsglobal.co.uk/visafees.aspx |

Re: 5 year x visa
Hi,
I also have one question related to X-Visa. Can you help me out? Question is: What is Indian X-Visa? A foreigner child can get Indian X-Visa or not. If yes, then can this Indian X-Visa be converted into student Visa later on. If yes, then what would be the procedure and requirements? If you & any other person knows anything about this, please help me.:confused::confused: |
