Re: 3 month visa for Brits????

Sorry but i have not been on this site in ages, too busy drinking kingfishers.
Like everywhere in Goa, visas are the talking point this season.
I still have 3 more years on my 5 year x.
So the big question??? is it still the 6 month multi entry as was almost norm, or is the 3 month visa now in play???.
What a bloody mess!!!

So, Steve, why not sit back and enjoy the remaining 3 years years you have on your x visa, as I am sure the rules will have changed a million more times before you need to even cross that bridge.
For information, if you are in the British forces, police, work in anything related to photography or journalism, as well as a number of other occupations, you will only be given a 3 month visa. This is not scaremongering or jobsworthiness of the VFS, but is what I have been told by the HCI. This is a ridiculous procedure, as all the listed occupations would have no reason to overstay as they have to return for work commitments.

However, if you are a scumbag or drug dealer, there is a very good chance that you will get a year tourist visa, as I have seen several examples of this year !!
(before all you folks who did get 1 year think I am insulting you, I am not referring to you, I am referring to a set of low lifes I have seen repeatedly get these visas every year, and have managed to do so this year too).

The whole system is obscenely ridiculous. Why the heck do the people of India vote these morons to lead their country?

I have spoken with a travel/visa agent in the UK who always takes my visa applications and he tells me that he is still getting 6 month t visa at the moment he has not had any come back with only 3 months in the last month but things are changing he as been told
But he did say that the price of charter flights that he sells seats on are very over priced due to the sales being very low and the tour operators are just trying to get as much money back as possible

Dread there are millions of Indian people who feel the same way. The politics of India is complex. The Congress party has the money, they can pay for their votes! Many of the less educated think that the Nehru/Gandhi dynasty is related to he Mahatma. Digambar Kamat was voted in on a BJP ticket, changed party on the offer of a job from Congress, therefore disenfrachising those who voted for him.
My question which I have asked before is how did that lovely young girl Sonia turn into this awful controlling person and pushing on her incompetent son?

B]3 month visas for Russians![/B]

I realise this is going a bit astray but!!!
I know for fact that russia is only issuing 3 month visas!!

Have learnt today how some Russians are getting 6 month visas!

They duly fill in their forms, pay $600 , hand all these in to a "handling company" who mail the forms and passports to The Phillipines and "Hey Presto" back comes a 6 month visa!!

Only problem!! No entry or exit stamps for the Phillipines in their passports.

PS This is fact not hearsay!! From a friend living among and friends with Russians who have done this !!

Evidently some who have done this are scared s******s that some smart immigration guy may pick up on this!!!

Re: 3 month visa for Brits????

My german neighbour has just returned from Frankfurt with a 1 year tourist visa.
She asked if she could have another 5 yr visa but was told only 1 year was available!

It says "if stay to exceed 180 days you have to register".

She went to Panjim yesterday and registered!!!!

She has told me that she also met a British national who has the same visa!

:confused::confused:

I really hope you are right - the new rule is rumoured to be coming in, in March. We will have to wait and see.

Dont all tourist visas carry the "registration required" bit, inspite of the over-riding rule that you can't stay for more than 180 days? Much has been written on other forums about Panjim police "registering" tourists with 1 year visas, and that it doesn't mean a thing, its all down to their overwhelming ignorance. The problems only arise at immigration when leaving India where they will not give a damn that the fools in Panjim registered you.
The endorsement actually states "stays over 180 days" which of course, you cannot legally achieve. Typical contradictory and innacurate Indian gobbledegook!

I`ve actually seen this visa this afternoon and the wording is"Registration not required if length of continuous stay does not exceed 180 days". On my 1 year tourist visa it clearly says "Stay during each visit not to exceed 180 days".
how can things differ so much between countries isuing visas.
There is nothing on my current 1 year visa about registration!!!

noni. just to keep you updated!
If one registers in Panjim one also has to inform Panjim when one wants to leave India and get an exit permission!

There is nothing on current 6/12 month visas about registering for visas from the UK.

They were NOT even offered a 6 month visa it was a 3 month visa or nothing, but they would have to stay out for 2 months before getting it, they spent hours taking and pleading their case but to no good they refused to listen and move on their descision..
If i offended anyone by saying "their not on holiday" im sorry, but a holiday is only for a certain length of time this is their "life"we are talking about, their trip to the UK was to them a holiday and a chance to visit family but it has been spoilt by this devastating news and they have worried family members now as well as friends.
The ruling for the "3 month only visa" will come into force as from march this the guys were told from the IHC itself not scaremongering im afraid because nik told me to put it on expats to warn everyone, Even with the problems he has he still cares enough to warn others

Poppetjay
Can you please pass on my regards and condolences to the two guys, and add that IMHO they are being treated appallingly by the Indian authorities. To destroy someones life in this way is criminal. I hope somehow they can find a way forward.
For information I would liike to point out that these two gentlemen have fought harder than anyone else I know for the rights of British and foreign property owners in Goa, even to the point of going public.

Well, 12-month T visas are fairly common (at the moment), and all visas have "Registration required ... for visas valid for more than 180 days"; but from personal experience Panaji police won't even register you on an X visa until you have been here nearly 180 days. I wonder if the person in question has done a side trip? - 'cos then you do have to register.

No this person has not done a side trip!

She has been out of goa for 4 months and this is a brand new visa!
She went to register just to see if they would do the necessary and they did!
This is a straight forward T visa- no mention of X on it.
I looked at it yesterday so as to get the facts right.

And as I said in my previous post there is no mention of registration on my 1 yr T Visa- what it does say is "stay not to exceed 180 days".

Strange! - perhaps they've got confused with so many people on T visas now registering (because of side trips).

Mine does and I think you'll find yours is the same - check the fine print (line 4):
