Re: 3 month visa for Brits????
Given that this would cause further large decreases in the numbers of European tourists visiting Goa and other parts of India, it seems almost certain that they will bring this in. Following the usual pattern, it will most likely be intoduced without prior notification so that it can cause the maximum chaos. So no doubt we have that to loook forward to next season. Personally I think the politicians would be happiest if we just all sent out our spending money then stayed in chilly Europe!

Re: 3 month visa for Brits????
Reading TA forum - 12 month visas are not a norm now but depends whether you get a 3 or 6 month one. Friends got a six month one in December without a problem or having a covering letter.

I applied for a short stay visa for my trip in November and was given 6 months - three weeks would have done me - not sure if this is normal or I was lucky. |

So my family always now request a multiple entry visa and put in two sets of travel dates to ensure they get at least a 6 month one. |

Any truth on this rumour??. Happy new year. Not really sure what all this is about, as I applied for a 6 month tourist Vista in November and got one, so why some people only get 3 months is a complete mystery!. Also, I know this was a problem last year, and again, in October I applied for a years visa and again no problem....total mystery to me! Janis |

Wouldnt be the first time that The Herald was guilty of scaremongering amongst the British community here...shall we ask them if they would print a special expats page? Then we could write our own stories like Brits given TEN year Visas for India, Brits can buy and hold the titles of properties in India, Brits can come and go as they please, Brits offer to clean up Goa, Brits put forward their first member of Government, Brits given the vote in India....what a wonderful world...sorry just woken up!

Re: 3 month visa for Brits????
Apart from the difficulties already mentioned, 3 months Tourist visas valid from the date of issue with the advice not to make bookings until the visa is received will affect the charter and general tourism imput from the uk badly. I cannot imagine many people will want to consider India without a reasonable guarantee that they can get a long enough visa for their requirements.
