Thanks for the site Ka Ora. The river at the bottom of my garden has flooded its banks and part of my garden - scary. Today the sunshine stopped it being worse but it looks as if I'm not out of the woods yet. Funny sensation really, seeing such a menace and being able to do nothing about it, also just thinking about it as a menace. Normally I'm very little aware of it and it seems hard to think of this as the same river kids play in and canoeists go down in summer. Keep your fingers crossed for me. Last time I was lucky but it came up four steps to within two steps of the house......

Last storm we had the school roof opposite lifted nearly a foot. It was early on a Sunday morning and I'm not sure the mayor believed me when I phoned him as, inbetween gusts, the roof came down exactly where it should be....

This alert extends as far as Haute Garonne!
Batten down everything and be sure not to park your car under any trees, nor in any position where possible hits by flying debris such as bins, roof tiles etc can cause damage. Best to keep indoors if possible!
We expect winds of up to 130 kph around Carcassonne, but further west could be up to 150kph which is heavy gale force - not far from hurricane.

We're supposed to be getting the tail-end today (Météo announced Alerte Orange in the Hérault), but so far, things are calm here, just rain.

Our power has been on and off all night
We have lost our front fence, had to collect it from down the road
All the neighbours have lost lots of tiles
Our tool cabinet on the downstairs balcony has been destroyed and tools and stuff everywhere
Its still incredibly windy here and has been quite frightening at times

P.S. to Ka Ora! - how come the 09 isn't included in the Alerte Rouge?

It must be bad 'cos it made the UK news too!

Don't mind if it has the roof off as then the insurance company can pay for new one.
