It is still OK to use the right hand lane methinks. Trouble is nobody really knows or really cares about the rules in France. Especially in your area. That road is dangerous at night with all the kids and drunks.

Where it is not OK however is the first roundabout coming from Grenoble towards Bourg d'Oisans. There are two lanes going into that roundabout and the first exit right (direction Oisans) is a large lane that gradually gets smaller. Local drivers will approach the roundabout in the left hand land and jump those queuing to go right. That made so angry to the point that I do it now.

Don’t forget the double ‘siamesed’ roundabouts. It is just a lottery if you survive and take the correct exit without mishap.
