He, my neighbour that is, had real trouble getting orange to open up a line and he played hell, as being self employed he was, like me, in dire need of an internet line but Orange refused as apparently his address didn't exist . In the end somebody's arse was kicked and he was given an ADSL line but not after waiting over 4 months.
It really is an appalling service especially in todays world. Our kids are told to go onto the internet to do their homework - if we didn't have it I have no idea how we'd go on.

I did a test earlier on :

ping 63ms
download 1.35mbps
upload 0,41 mbps

leaves a lot to be desired.....
To be fair thats not that bad for rural with similar service we could download a film and watch it whilst streaming with the occasional glitch. Not for HD content mind only standard def.

I agree 1.35 Mbit/sec is not bad at all. I only get 1 Mbit/sec but my line has been down now for the last 4 weeks - Orange has no vested interest in servicing a Free customer and all Free can do is refund my subscription.

It is why I only use Orange it's when the faults occur that you realise your with the wrong provider. It's all the same network at the end of the day but Orange like BT being the gardens of the physical network prioritise who they will fix and other providers customers come after Orange customers.
