Question Dog friendly hotels

My husband and I will be driving from Calais to Lisbon in September with a Border Collie and an Irish Wolfhound. Does anybody have any recommendations for good dog friendly hotels between Calais and the Spanish border?

Hi,
I agree that the French love their dogs, but many hotels and gites will not accept them. Not sure of the name but there is a publication (Bridget Bardot sponsored?) that lists hotels that do accept dogs. If I see it over the weekend in a bookstore I will provide you with the name.

We travelled from France to Southern Spain with 3 dogs and 2 cats but we stayed in cabins on campsites instead of hotels.

Further to a previous comment, I can advise that there is an exellent guide book called 'Je voyage avec mon chien'. I recently bought a copy and it lists thousands of hotels, b&b etc in France all which accept animals. Also indicates whether permitted in restaurant. (Rates for your 4-legged friend range from free to approx 10 euros).
Our new boxer can now accompany us on future trips, and by planning ahead we can be sure that he will be accepted.

Thanks Ruburoo.

Will campsites accept us for one night?

Tweedpipe - many thanks. This book sounds like a great option.

Your welcome.
Incidently we found this book wasn't available from many bookshops, but eventually found a copy at FNAC.
If ordering should be required it's ISBN: 978-2-915347-51-7
