A cautionary tale about moving to France

Re: A cautionary tale about moving to France
Yes, if you like, like the French. Would these same people buy an old ruin of a farmhouse out in the sticks in the UK and do it up?? No I don't think many would. Its called common sense. Seriously, would you??
Just because you decide to live abroad, in any country, it doesn't mean you have to make life difficult for yourself.

"the family were forced to rely on what little money they could make themselves."
"Kim was forced to look for a job"
Absolutely outrageous isn't it, I mean what sort of a country is this, where people are expected to work for a living and are held responsible for paying their own bills?

If you are thinking about moving to France, read this.
I know it is the Daily Mail but.....
France's other migrant problem - penniless and hungry BRITS: Their dreams of La Belle Vie turned to dust. Then they found the socialist French are far tougher than us - and won't pay benefits | Mail Online
Think carefully before you leap.

Sorry but these people are idiots..
Seriously, what did they expect?!

It would be nice to hear the story as it was before the Daily Mail got hold of it, it's too ridiculous to be completely true I'm convinced someone has embellished a little bit.

At least one of the stories actually makes a worse picture than the Daily Mail has painted.

My OH came across a man who couldn't speak French and had - on a whim -just bought a bar in a village in Normandy or Brittany.
The village was dying and the future for the bar was bleak - oh and he hadn't discussed it with his OH.
He asked my OH to translate the threatening letters from the bank.

Yes but from time-to-time we get such people on BE telling us they are moving to France without any idea of what awaits them.

Oh yeah it's like these topics 'moving soon to France ! urgent !!' - these people already have their flights booked and have no idea what's going on in France. Like this woman who worries about the school of her children two weeks before 'la rentrée'.

Re: A cautionary tale about moving to France
There was a couple in the Spanish section that threw lots of money at a bar in Spain against all the prior warnings, they are back in England with slimmer wallets I believe. All the bars round here close far too early to make any money, having spent plenty of time in the south where they are open till gone midnight in places I nearly fell over myself when I got turfed out at 9pm here I had only just ordered my first drink
Thank goodness we've put in double glazing.
