Call the Fire Brigade!
Got myself in a right pickle this afternoon. having a relaxing time, giggling with you lot, when I smelled smoke. Blimey my roast pork must be on fire I thought. Rushed into the kitchen, opened the oven, lovely garlic potato smell. Quite a bit of smoke in the house. PANIC! Rushed around like a headless chicken, but couldn't see any flames.... thankfully. Screamed out of an upstairs window at Smithy who was half an acre away bopping away on his tractor mowing the grass. Ran back downstairs, more smoke, out into the garden, attract OH's attention who suddenly moved like Linford Christie. Both ran back into the house, where he discovers it's the apple sauce which is on fire. I must have been having either a senior or a blonde moment, cos I had completely forgotten that I'd made any. I immediately plead insanity anyway, and if you knew me you'd buy that.
Thank goodness my hero took charge of the situation and calmed down both me and the saucepan, which may be ruined but at least all's well.
I suppose the only upside would have been seeing the Sapeurs-Pompiers speeding up my drive.... Hello Boys!!
