I've just arrived at work, and (as it's an english school) went to put on BBC Radio 2, via our internet connection on the reception computer, and what do I see?

Please enter USERNAME and PASSWORD!! :curse:

Apparently, this is supposed to be a way of getting people to test the new beta version of the BBC iplayer, but I reckon it's more about tracing EXACTLY where all their users are, so as to check up on so-called illegal use of the application (shed a tear for licence-payers!!)

Anyway, after looking around the site a bit, I still haven't managed to find anything that enables me to create a username and password.

Any thoughts anyone?
I'm in the UK with a .co.uk internet connection and got Radio 2 via http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/ no problem

Get a Satellite Disk and Freeview Box and listen to it on that.

It was an error that affected the whole system yesterday and has since been rectified. The user name and password is for those who have the parental control settings engaged but yesterday, because of a glitch, it affected the whole system. Next time it happens - or the stream is being interrupted repeatedly - go to your Real Player directly NOT via the iPlayer option of listen in stand-alone Real Player. Once in the Real Player itself, navigate your way to BBC Radio and choose your station. That's what I had to do yesterday, and it tends to stream better so I might use them permanently

Not for radio JDR. It's just the TV on demand that you need the UK ip and for some news report videos. Radio is fine (unless it is football where they only hold the rights for the UK)

Thanks for the info, I'll try again when I go back to work on monday.

Still can't wait for the euro version of the tv iplayer though [as they've been announcing for about the last year that it's imminent]. Think we can keep dreaming.

I've started using a company in Brussels for UK TV on the internet and am happy with them . Anyone who would like the details can PM me and see for themselves. It's not everyone's cup of tea but I like it and the fact that I don't have to subscribe for a year as with the Belgium cable companies is good too.

But with some simple tinkering about or sticking up a Satellite Dish one can have it anyway. There is lots of wonderful TV floating around in the Sky that doesn't involve Subscription.
