Anyone out there from Northern Ireland?
Morning everyone.
I just received a couple of pairs of socks through the post from my dear old mum in NI.
She had zero paperwork her end. No customs forms. They didn’t even ask what was in the parcel.
So it seems the NI postal service is indeed functioning as if NI were still in the customs union.
The parcel took just 3 days to get here.
Alas, things do not seem to be working so smoothly in the opposite direction. Our post offices here in Strasbourg are operating on the assumption that NI is subject to the same onerous customs formalities as GB.
I’m pretty sure they’re wrong. I found the following on the La Poste website and am tempted to print it off and wave it at them, highlighting the bit about “hors Irlande du Nord”. Anyone out there who’s had similar trouble sending parcels to NI?
