Hi, thought a would start a new thread as the other is getting a bit long.

Well apart from yesterday it has not stopped here in Haloze for approx ten days :thumbdown:

I'm trying to find out how much snow there is on the drive at our new house. Going to be fun when the removal van pulls up and there's a foot of snow on the drive. I'm guessing nobody has cleared it.

I checked forecast for MB for next week - some snow forecast for early next week - have to wait and see...

Still snowing and I can confirm it is freezing over slightly as I just went arse over tit when taking a bin bag outside

Our Girls are going skiing with the school to celje today, perfect weather, had some more snow last night just after i cleared the last drop off the drive, invested in a chinese sports quad at christmas ( well santa brought it) so getting around ok but loaded up with food, wine and wood so no journeys necc.

Any chance of a picture of your quad? I think that we really need one around here but have been told there no good for the snow!?

Hi Una, I'll get alison to do a photo she's the technical expert in our house, the one i have is a 300cc sky jet its only 2 wheel drive but i go all over the place in it with the girls on and haven't been stuck yet, the tyres are balloon type with big treads, if you want to go over rough terrain in these conditions though you will need to splash out on a 4 wheel drive one but they aint cheap, the 2 wheelers are more fun as you can doughnut etc easier.
I paid 1600 euros for mine nearly new but they can be picked up cheaper.

Crikey, thats a serious challenge Una, theres a shop in polzela just off the motorway between celje and ljubljana I've forgot the name but they sell lots of atvs you need one with a snowplough attatched to the front.

Its not so bad when there's just snow on it, its when it turns to ice! That's when the fun really starts!

Snowed for an hour or two in Maribor this morning, noting major all good now.

It's snowing really heavily again here right now. The snow novelty has definitely worn off now and I'm sick of it - roll on spring! :)

Unfortunately its far from gone. It seems its going to be a VERY long winter yet. It's snowing here again right now and its also forecast for all next week too. If there were direct flights to the Caribbean, I'd be on one right now cos I can't take it anymore aagghhhh...............

It has certainly been a 'proper' winter. It has finally stopped snowing here, but they reckon it's coming back next week and we could be stuck with it till the end of the month!

God don't I know it! I'm sick of it beyond belief and yes, I also heard there's more to come. I would love to just wake up one morning to find it's all gone - wouldn't that be fab!

When we left Maribor the daffs in our garden were just peeking through..I imagine they are buried again now

When I got back yesterday Jess our dog had a tick on her neck, Romeo our cat had one him last week. It ill be grand they said!

If I am still in this country next winter someone needs to shoot me and out me out of my misery!

It's sound like you and I have similar thoughts when it comes to winter in Slovenia! It's a tough one as I know I'll be fine again come the summer when I can get out and about but during a winter like this one, I too feel I must be mad to still be here!

It was on the news this week that the hospital in Lju is running out of space due to the number of people falling and injuring themselves on the ice :thumbdown:

On another note, I only found out yesterday that Eddie Izzard is coming to Slo in March as part of his world tour but then today I found out its already sold out shame :ohmy: Do we think Slovenes will get his humour??? :)

Now this is just getting beyond silly - the amount of snow I mean, there's just nowhere left to shovel it to and its just piling up and piling up and still god damn snowing. In the 6 years I've been here I've never known anything like it and if it were like this every winter, there's no way I could stand it so here's hoping that spring will really spring sooner rather than later.

Most snow I've seen fall in 24 hours yesterday and then today it was 7 degrees here, crazy weather

Looks like it is still snowing in KG. Is this the case in the other SLO resorts and I guess they will keep the lifts open at weekends after Easter? Anybody know ? Adele? Probably OK anyway as could nip to Italy/Austria if KG was closed early April.
I'm freezing in London. Good luck anyone who has booked an Easter caravan at the seaside...
