Default Chances in a European country as a NURSE

Hi Everyone,

would someone pls give info about chances of a qualified and experienced NURSE in various European Union countries like UK, Ireland, Scotland, Spain, Sweden, etc

My understanding is that Spain have a surplus of nurses, so might not be a good option - however, I could not say for certain.

As for the UK, you will need to register with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) in order to practice. They normally require you to undertake a supervised placement and adaptation training before they will register you. You should know that these placements are very hard to come by. Some nursing homes offer this, however, be warned that many acute hospital trusts feel that nursing homes simply do not offer the training and experience that is required for working in a major hospital and that can make it difficult when you try to get a job elsewhere - just something to consider. You will also have to pass an english test that will test both written and oral communication skills.

Any idea about Ireland? How one can register/find employment in Ireland or any other European Union country?

Sorry Ranjit, I am only familiar with the position in the UK. Can't help you I'm afraid.
