Thanks again Arthur,
Not too dissimilar from the UK now then in that respect?
I think the whole electrical industry is a constant hoop jumping experience with upgrading, publications and retraining and a very expensive game to operate in.
If we fart on a domestic job here, we have to check to see if it falls under Part P of the Building Regulations and needs to be certified with a Minor Works Certificate! Commercial & Industrial have plenty of hoops, H&S, Risk assessments etc, etc.
Well hopefully the process may be smoothed out over the months as Vetassess gets itself more organised and established?
I don't think any qualified spark will like being supervised to start with when they get there, but I do have to take my hat off to the Australian Government for implementing this route because here anyone and his dog are having a go at electrics.
At least with the proposed route supervised sparks are actual qualified in there own rights and have knowledge of electrical systems. Not sure how easy it is to get work on the provisional license but if the demands are there in Oz then we can only assume this side that places need to be filled?
Is there a thread on this site for the differences between the UK and Australia wiring systems? If not it could be a good thread to start even if it were to have a comparison list table of terms used? i.e.:
UK - Steel Trunking
Australia - Duct
That could be really helpful?
I will keep posted so any additional info would be great!
Onwards and upwards as they say!
All the best!

I think by the time you have finished Vetassess everything will be much clearer. No one really knows exactly what is required to obtain the full licence through Vetts when you get inside Australia.
There is loads of stuff about the vetts exams on this forum but PM me if you need any more info as ive done it myself.
Sydney is beautiful in winter!
Good luck!

Cheers Arthur
It is becoming a very unclear and very time consuming project to say the least.
O.K. I think I understand what has to be done this side via Vetassess but big confusions on the other side of the pond?
You would think that if Australia is really that keen to get the skills over there they would have a clear step by step path of the route that has to be taken.
All this, 'you may have to work supervised, carry a log book, and earn far less than a qualified spark in Australia' is than appealing to say the least.
Especially if fully qualified sparks like myself have their own business here in the UK.
