Default Qld no longer accepting Sa route for licensing

Just heard today from a mate who attended peer college in South australia, he passed the course and gained his SA electrical license, subsequently came back up to Brisbane and applied for his Qld license which has been refused !!!!
The man at the licensing board said they no longer recognise this route for gaining your Qld License and you must go through a Qld tafe or RTO. He appealed the decision but was knocked back, even got the ETU involved but they couldnt help either. They are aware that lots of people are taking this route and told him they will not be issuing licences to them.

Hi there,
Officially, this is true, but from reading job adverts most employers in Queensland specify that you must have a Queensland licence. Regards Derren

So what's the "correct" route to take for a licence in Queensland, i'm finding this very confusing!
I tried the link to the Queensland dept in the licencing thread but that's seems to have changed and the contact details on the TRA also seems to have gone?

Hi there,
The correct route is that once you have your ARTC or OSTR you must apply for an electrical 'permit to train' from the Queensland Govt. and then enrol at a TAFE (college) or Registered Training Organisation (RTO) to do the relevant course(s) and also find a job so you can fill in a log book .
Here are some useful links
Electrical licencing overseas applicants
[
RTO

When I wrote to Chris Williamson at QET he spoke of a 3 month time frame to obtain a full licence ,longer for holders of an OSTR, but this is a best case scenario and dependent on finding work which , seemingly, is not easy to do without a full licence. Hope this helps.
Regards Derren

Looks as though the links are not working so the web address for the TRA is www.deewr.gov.au then click on 'Skills' then 'Programs' and then 'Skills assessment'

Thanks for the help!
It's a bit of a chicken and egg though as it's going to be difficult to get a job without a licence.
