Has anyone got any advice on taking my electrical test equipment over to Oz if i ever get the visa. I was thinking that my multi-function tester will be useful but what about my PAT tester??? (If i get adapter leads to use) Your views would be grately appreciated.

requirements are very simple compared to the uk
http://www.deir.qld.gov.au/electrica...urse/index.htm
to be honest all the testing, even on installations is in my opinion of a much much lower standard than the uk,
for example
http://www.deir.qld.gov.au/electrica...ting/index.htm
if youve read that you`ll see that its acceptable to test rcds via the button
wtf does that prove?? that the rcd works when given a dead short ??
no tripping current test or even speed of tripping test required
just push the bloody button
typical test cert

you dont have to supply details of the installation, you could put new sockets and sign and it woud comply
testing

now your probably wondering wtf
i only asked if i should bring my pat tester, the idea was to give you some insight as to whats regullary done regarding testing in aus so you can make your own discision re what to and what not to bring
one thing definatly chuck you conduit vice ( ive broght mine total waste of time ) ditto pyro tools, aussies wouldnt recognise mi if you whipped with tyhe stuff,
hope tis has helped
