hey steve,
thanks for this post, it sounds like a great idea for all us sparks awaiting visa's here in the UK and spending time studying for the required gap training at home instead of in oz.
I emailed this company to find out dates and the cost of the course. I was surprised that it will cost £3000 to complete.
Which makes me wonder, how much does it cost in Australia to do this course or go to Peer and do the logbook currently??
I hope that they haven't jumped on the bandwagon of ripping off already skint tradesmen trying to qualify for a new life abroad. If anyone knows the costs in oz, I would appreciate any info, otherwise I will bite the bullet and get on the course.
Cheers
Richie

the cost justification is as follows
· Canberra Institute Of Technology (CIT) are flying here for 8 weeks in total
· Accommodation for that duration
· Classroom costs
· Australian rigs and materials
Those alone justify the cost, now to the benefits
· Sponsorship Options will greatly increase if you already have an Australian Qualification ( Gap Training)
· The White Card or Health and Safety card is mandatory and you will not get a position without it
· We will put your CV out to over 20 companies notifying them of your pre training
· DUTG is run by Australian Tradesmen with wide ranging contacts
· A sponsorship will shave off at least a year on your process
· Once you get to Australia you will not need to talk to or attend a Tafe or RTO for any reason
· We help you through the eprofiling system
For those who say that you can just do it in Australia you are right, if you would like to wait for two years to process a standard GSM visa then waste time and money tiring to sort out courses with no employment that is up to you. We are trying to help you guys but you will need to help yourselves and call us to get the information direct
Kind regards,

hi
having started this thread and posted on a similar one on another site its quickly become obvious that me been in the middle is pointless exercise,
so if your intrested in this course contact them direct
i have personally spoke to the COE of this company, for quite some considerable time the other night and the guy does knows what he`s talking about
so read the info http://australia.downundertradies.co...-in-australia/
and give them a call,
you can only get so much info off a page or advert and talking to some one helps make things clearer so i`d recommend giving them the cost of a call and 30 minutes of your time and then you decide if its for you or not
regards steve

I think your efforts and sentiments are as ever admirable and I suspect you have had some negative replies bitching about the costs and casting aspertions about your motives and those of tradies downunder. I will personally be looking to take this course once I have my visa as I don't like the idea of 'having to be employed' to keep my visa. I think that £3k while not an insignificant sum is certainly within reach of a sparks in the UK and will be worth every penny if it means avoiding/ reducing the red tape in the route to a licence.
Don't let the b@stards get you down
