Default building services maintenance

Hi,

For any working in this field in the uk the aussie equivalent seems to be 'bms electrician' I found a few jobs listed on the Australian job websites paying around AU$65-70k. Not. Sure how this compares but seems decent to me, also found a few data centre maintenance positions too. Things are looking promising for a direct swap over.

I look after a very large companies big data centre in a more supervisory role now and I also lok after the trend BMS.
Do they use Trend?
The money is about right at about 2:1 exchange rate possibly a bit lower but not much.
It's nice to hear there is still work but being taken off the csl list I don't know when we'll get our visa, we've been waiting since last August.
Also will someone give me a job as a BMS electrician without first gaining my A licence?

Have a look at the agency websites for info about job descriptions etc, if you google bms electrician australia it'll get you started. I saw a couple of jobs that specified a restricted licence but a full licence will obviously be more desirable. On the trend subject, yes they do have it over there. I think it was introduced a few years ago when novar bought trend. I have worked in management of data centre services before returning to the tools to save for the big adventure! I think it will be a case of starting at the bottom and rising quickly rather that first rather than aiming high but who knows? Have a look at state sponsorship, I didn't want to lose the flexibility of living and working anywhere but I am worried about future rule changes, whatever they may be. Plan on settling on the sunshine coast anyway so have started state sponsorship proceedings with queensland. It only ties you to live and work in queensland for 2 years so I think it's a fair compromise for fast tracking, you apparently get your case officer within a couple of months but we'll see....
