Im sure threads like this are posted often, ad the process isnt easy and like all these things confusing.i was about to go down the vetassess route then i started, i think to read to much,and have read so much negative stuff about them.
i guess im just trying to find the best way to do this without wasting money. im an approved jib electrician, and im worried about them taking electrician of the list any help would be appreciated.

Hi Buddy, As I'm sure your aware electricians have been taken off the C.S.L.. Really no-one can you advise you as to a surefire way of getting to Australia on a permanent visa. The main reason being that the policies are constantly changing and so at best it's an educated guess. I don't think they will take electricians of all of the lists,however as it is of the C.S.L. it will take longer for your application to be proccessed. This may change back again in the future. The other way is to obtain employer sponsorship or state sponsorship. The later being more straight forward.
If you are an approved electrician and are going for 4311-11 general electrician you don't have a choice and must take the vetassess route before lodging your application. If you match the special class electrician then as far as i am aware TRA is the body to apply to.
I am also an approved electrician and took the vetassess route. It's pretty straight forward but is expensive. Hope this helps. Davy.

thanks dave that does help ALOT, i was unaware it had been taken off which comes as a kick in the nuts... the state sponsored way looks like the way to go then, i had written my application and was about to pay, vetassess and thought it better to look at the options, and opinions.
ps there is alot of dejected people who have failed the test was it that hard, I.E any more difficult than an AM2.

4311-13 Electrician (Special Class)
Services and repairs intricate and complex electrical or electronic circuitry.
Tasks Include:
diagnoses and repairs faults in electrical circuitry which is of a complex nature
analyses drawings and specifications to determine sequences and methods of operation
uses electrical and electronic test instruments to trace faults
dismantles units, repairs or replaces defective components and re-assembles them
test-operates and monitors the performance of systems, and adjusts settings
records causes of malfunctioning and action taken
may service and repair circuitry in prototype and other non-standard units
may service and repair components of electrical equipment powered by hydraulic, pneumatic or other non-electrical energy sources

General Electrician
Electrical Fitter
Electrical Mechanic
Electrician

Installs, tests, connects, commissions, maintains and modifies electrical equipment, wiring and control systems.

Skill Level:
The entry requirement for this occupation is an AQF Certificate III or higher qualification. Registration or licensing is required.

Tasks Include:
examines wiring diagrams and installation areas to plan layout of wiring systems
responds to break downs, diagnoses and repairs electrical systems and ancillary equipment
positions and installs electrical switchboards
installs sheathed cables
measures, cuts and installs plastic conduit and pulls wires through
splices, twists and solders wires and applies tape or terminal caps
connects installed wires to circuit breakers, transformers, timers and other electrical equipment
installs and connects items such as switches, lighting fixtures and earthing systems
connects electrical systems to power supply
tests continuity of circuit
may install, modify, maintain and repair electrical equipment such as storage heaters, water heaters, lighting, motors, electric signs or switchboards


The first is the quickest if you can tick the boxes through TRA

And the 2nd is slower more expensive through Vetassess

Hi
I guess the profile of general class fits me best, i could try and shoe horn myself in on the back of my testing for special class. general class seems to sum me up best, its just a shame to fork out all that cash to prove you rightwhen i was in oz on a gap year visa they made you, do a course to do anything including making coffee, its just a way of rinsing the pennys out before you go there must be loads of people, spend all the cash to get knocked back.......Oh well looks like ill have to take the risk.
