It's not in the slightest bit odd that someone wants to be near their family!! What a thing to say to someone!

Got a pal here in NZ whose son remained in the UK when they emigrated. He's also in his 20's. He now wishes to join his family in NewZealand. He just wants to be closer to them than two+ days away. Why? Because he loves his parents and siblings.

They would like to move to the UK next year and Im keen to know the best way the boyfriend can legally live here.
Its a permanent move, they fully intend to find work. What options does he have?
Many thanks for help in advance.
Hi
Can I just check is the tier 5 (youth mobility visa) is still the best option for my daughters bf?
If so and assuming he is granted that visa how soon will they need to start applying for his next visa? That visa would be the same whether they got married or not?
Many thanks again

The Tier 5 is still available and sounds like a good option for the boyfriend.

He only gets 2 years in the UK - if he gets married in the meantime he would need to apply for a spouse visa to remain after the two years.

He won't get another Tier 5 mobility visa while in the UK.

Thank you for your help as ever.

If he gets the visa, how long does another type of visa take to process as two years is not long at all.

Surely after 2 years they will know whether they will get married or not?

Not sure what 'other type of visa' you are referring to if not spouse visa.

They may be eligible for unmarried partner visa if they live together in a relationship akin to marriage for a minimum of two years, plus being able to fulfill financial, relationship and accommodation criteria.
