My daughter is a British citizen but no, she hasn't been ordinarily resident for the previous 3 years. We have friends whose son has never lived in the UK and they were still given home fee status. Each uni will assess it differently, and as Hull isn't a top tier one you might get lucky. Definitely worth asking before you make any decisions I'd say.

Good luck.

Would an apprenticeship be allowed under the rules of dependant visa?

Something like this for example...

https://www.findapprenticeship.servi.../VAC1000272440

Minimum wage rates (£6.40p/h apprenticeship rate)
Annual wage range £12,000 to £18,000 Depending on age and experience
Training course
Marketing executive (level 4)
35 hours a week

I read you need to be ordinarily resident (3 years) in the UK to qualify to do apprenticeships in the UK. If this was the case, he wouldn't be able to apply for any apprenticeships until after April 2026. He would finish his A Levels by July 2025. Would this be the case?
