Spouse Visa - Originals vs Copies for scan submission
Hi there,
Any help would be greatly appreciated with this. I recently applied for a spouse visa for the UK, I'm a New Zealander currently living and working in Australia. My wife is a UK citizen living and working in London.
We went through immigration specialists who helped with our application. I took all of our original supporting documents along with copies of said documents to an appointment with VFS global to submit. I used the scanning service that they offered. They were adamant that they could scan the copies of my supporting documents even though I queried this and said I had all of the originals with me.
Now I am terrified that they have potentially got it wrong, the immigration specialists we dealt with were very clear about the importance of using original documentation. Has anybody else had this issue? Were they wrong in scanning the copies of my supporting documentation and not the originals? Any help greatly appreciated.

I used the VFS Centre in Brisbane and they scanned all of my documents copies and originals. I didn't have two seperate piles - just a mix of them all.
Anyway, I ended up getting an email from Sheffield 5 weeks later stating they have received my receipt for application however have no documentation and that I need to scan everything to them within 5 days - so all that scanning at VFS was a waste of time! I don't even know if they have my passport?? I guess so? Ughh!

I think you will be fine. Did you submit a form ticking what was original and what was copied? For example if you ticked that ''bank statements"' were original and they scanned the copies I don't think it matters as theyhave sighted originals. VFS lost my scanned documents (the ones sent off in the computer magically disappeared) and I had to scan them all myself 5 weeks later to Sheffield! They also made me change my date of travel to later because of some stupid reason that my immigration adviser from London said was not true - so I switched it back before I scanned everything myself hehe. They are pretty useless and I think if Sheffield would contact you if they needed to ask any questions. Don't worry I think it is fine!
After trawling through the forums I have seen quite a few examples of similar things happening to other people so hoping it is all fine.
Sounds like you've had a nightmare with your application. I have read quite a few people mention they received an email when their documents were received too which I haven't had yet (I had the appointment last Wednesday). Going through this forum has also shown me it is nearly impossible to get any communication going with Sheffield so I guess I just have to wait and see. Your story doesn't make it sound promising though! I hope you hear something soon.

Here is a previous thread about VFS Global not using originals for scanning!

Feel a bit better about things but still hate this whole waiting part!
