RETIREE WANTING TO GO HOME TO THE UK
I love my American husband dearly, however, I have never settled here in the USA and fear I never will. I need to know that when he retires in 2 years I/we can go home to the UK. We will have very little money as my husband made some bad financial mistakes but of course he will be receiving his SS and of course I will be almost at retirement age. I have heard that he will not be allowed unless I can show I can support.....I could not! Does anyone have any advice for me please, I am already so miserable, I can't imagine not going home without him.

Sounds like you are not going to be able to sponsor him with employment income ; so it's either of the other options.
If his Social Security payments are equivalent to 18,600 GB or above per annum, then his SS payments can be used to qualify.
Read the following document carefully to see how you can qualify under pensions.

You also need to prove you have accommodation available to you when you apply.

Yes, you will need to sponsor him for a settlement visa. This can be done via income, and/or savings and/or pensions, non employment income.
Sounds like you are not going to be able to sponsor him with employment income ; so it's either of the other options.
If his Social Security payments are equivalent to 18,600 GB or above per annum, then his SS payments can be used to qualify.

Thank you, I am so happy we will have enough with SS and my pension. I know I will have many more questions and financially it will not be easy as we don't have a great deal of savings (however, we have many wonderful memories). I am so glad I found this site!
