I am originally from California (US Citizen) and I moved to Scotland in December 2009 to be with my husband who is a UK citizen. We are expecting our first child due in June. After the child is born, we want to relocate back to California ASAP.
Couple of questions.......
1) If I register the child with the US Embassy after he is born, I won't need to file a petition for him to come over to the US, correct? Because he will be classed as a dual citizen.
2) What has been people's experiences with applying for a US spousal visa from within the UK?
Thanks in advance!

Hi California
I see you've posted a technical question elsewhere, so I don't know how far you have come in researching yet.
You will need to petition for your husband so that he can apply for an Immigrant Visa. That process for people living in London has been detailed here. 'DCF' in London
This process consistently takes just about 5 months, so if you want to move in the summer, it is time to get started with your petition. Be sure to read that link for some London-specific instructions.
There are lots of other families relocating stateside posting here; look for the 'DCF' marked threads.
Your child will be a US citizen at birth. You need to register her birth at the Embassy and apply for a US passport for her before you travel. US citizens must enter and exit the US on their US passports, even if they hold multiple nationalities.
The financial quesiton you had is answered in the wiki I linked above.

I think that will be fine, I've been living in Scotland since 2008, entered on student visa and now have a post-grad visa (which expires in Jan 2012) and they accepted our application DCF with no problem, even though I am not a permanent resident.
