Default Lost Passport with UK visa

Bit of an odd one.
My fiance lives in the UK with me just now, and has a Tier 1 post study work visa, valid for approximately another year.

She went home to USA last week however lost her passport somehow.

Does anyone know the process about replacing the visa when she gets back? She should have her new US passport by this weekend, and flies back Sunday.

Thanks

I think the procedure is to contact the authority that issued the visa and arrange for a replacement in person. Thus, for my US visa, which was issued by the US Embassy in London, I would need to visit the London Embassy with a copy of the police report documenting the loss (even if simply lost, I believe).

Info from Border Agency here and here

(One says what you should do, the other tells staff how to deal with it)
