HELP! Laid off before visa application
Hello friends.
I am American, and have just returned to the States after marrying my British husband. We were just about to start the spouse visa application process, but today he has been laid off. How screwed are we?
He's been in his job since July of 2018, before that he was self-employed and earning below the £18,600 threshold.
He's been given a two week notice; how much of a gap can there be between this job and the next for us to be able to send off our application in July once he's had 12 months of employment?
Appreciate the help.

The level of your screwedness will depend on how soon your husband can find another job. If you are looking to apply via Category B then providing his total gross income over the previous twelve months is over £18,600 then you’re fine. The longer the period of unemployment the greater the chance that his income will drop below the threshold.

Okay. Thank you, that's far less panic-inducing than "he has to have a job before his old one ends and have uninterrupted income".
If he takes freelance work in the meantime (he's a videographer), can that income be included, and can anyone provide any links to guides on providing evidence for that?
