Default childs first passports

We are getting ready to send off for our childrens first UK passports. My husband is British (born in Scotland) and I am Canadian. We did the the online applications and have them printed and ready along with the required photos and documents. But I have a small potentially silly question... on the application we filled in the space provided for my husbands uk passport number... are we to send his passport along with the other required documents with our childrens applications? I am thinking yes but I just wanted to double check.

Thank you

No. No you don't. I sent all the stuff off on Friday for my son's passport. Under my details the mother I filled out British - I put my passport number and British citizen and that's it. I did not send off my original passport.

I even emailed them a list of everything I had ready to post for them to check it (long story because they ballsed up my application) and they approved what I had ready to post and did not ask for my passport.
