If your cousin is willing to help you then she can make a Subject Access Request to HMPO to find out exactly which sections of British nationality law the passport examiner was relying on when she was granted a British passport. It’s free of charge.

The only variance in documents supplied between my cousin and myself is that she had copies of her fathers old British Passport, however my father doesn't have any old passports (last one was valid circa 1991)
Now speaking with someone else they have said this may be the key to the puzzle.(apparently something to do with a designation on passport may have led people to incorrectly assume they were by other than descent)
Seeing that my cousin in not keen to apply HMPO SAR, if my father was to make a request about his old passports what Details of Information Required should he put in Section 4?
