Australian born looking to work in UK, will he need a passport...
Wasn't sure if this was the right place to ask, but here goes anyway!!
Have a friend who is a dual citizen of UK and Australian whose grandson is hoping to work in the UK for a while.
Will he be able to apply for a UK passport or will he need a visa? She didn't have a clue what he would need to do so said I would ask on here for her
Thanks for any help. X

Hopefully JAJ will find this. Font of all immigration knowledge whatever the country. He'll also probably have some useful bookmarks that should help. I've moved it to MB simply because there may be people here who have been there, done that

I don't think grandchildren of UK citizens can get a British passport, I used to work in London with an Australian in that situation and they had the UK skilled visa.

I am no expert, but been in this position before.
If the grandparent was born in the UK there is the Ancestry Visa which allows you to remain and work in the UK for 5 years, after which time you can apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain then British Citizenship. This is what I did and it was all pretty straightforward.
I cant comment on what applies if the grandparent wasn't born in the UK.
