Hey lovely FE/A people. This is a bit left field but I'm hoping someone can help. I have a very old charm bracelet and all the charms are Chinese I think, they may not be but from memory it was given to me by my great uncle who spent many years in Singapore but I thought I'd post in here as well as the Singapore Forum. This is one of the charms and I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what it means. (If anything). I don't know which is the front so have done both sides.

Thanks in advance.

I don't speak any of. Chinese languages but I think the pic on the right is the correct one, as I've seen one of those characters before. I've got a few friends who might know so I'll put a copy of the pic on my Facebook tomorrow and see if I get any sensible answers. Will report back here

Err...unless anyone on here knows......

Oh thanks BB. Most of the other charms don't have a front and a back so it's hard to tell but if it's facing the same way as the abacus charm then the one on the right is the front.

OK Ms Moneypenny, I have the answer awready

Actually I have learnt something there as apparently the characters in Mandarin and Cantonese are different.

One of my friends is married to a Hong Kong Chinese (Cantonese speaking). My friend says that there are 3 blessings:
Fook
Luk
Sau

which translates to:
Good Life
Good Fortune
Good Longevity

You've got the middle one. So it means "Good Fortune". Hope you get some.

That's interesting. I have heard of them as three deities which are often displayed in the home to bring luck.

You're a star BB. So the second pic is the front? And it's in Cantonese? Shame I can't wear it, it's too big. I've had it over 40 years and just get it out to look at every now and then.
