Prices in Hong Kong?
Hello from Old Blightly!!
Really envy everyone at the moment - unsure if you have been watching the news but we have had about 3 weeks of constant rain at present!!!
Mine is more of a question than query really - hope someone can help! I recently had a family member that traveled to Hong Kong and loved every minute of it. He mentioned that items like electronics were a real bargain there and this got me thinking .
It is my fathers Birthday in a couple of months and has recently recovered from quite a serious illness. He is now almost back on his legs and as a treat my family is looking for a special birthday present and one of our ideas was a watch as he has always been looking at the Omega Speedmaster. In the UK this retails at about £1,500 and I wondered if it was any cheaper in Hong Kong as this is too much for me and my sister to put together.
If anyone has any helpful information I would be most grateful

Re: Prices in Hong Kong?
Yes - certainly you can buy watches cheaper in Hong Kong than in the UK - there is no VAT for starters.
An Omega Speedmaster could be purchased for approx. HK $12,000 - $14,000 (GBP 775 to 900) from a reputable shop (if you asked the sale person nicely of course).
Discounts for high-end watches can start at 25% off the RRP - so some good deads can be found.
I'm not sure how you are going to buy a Speedmaster in Hong Kong from the UK - unless you have a trustworthy friend?
Don't forget - UK Customs may take a dim view of this too?
Regards.

Thanks PaddythePilot,
Good to know - I have a cousin that lives out there so some sweet talking may have to be had!
I guess none of the reputable shops in Hong Kong have an online website where you can shop direct?

No - I don't think so.
Best bet is to get your cousin to buy the item & send it over (or bring on their next trip home).
Good luck!
