Whats your opinion on this set of changes?

Frankly i think its mostly political BS 'look people, we are doing things, we are keeping you safe' and of course it may just be a holding ploy to get more vaccinated. They are simply canute like holding back the sea for a bit longer, hope not too much damage is being done by that.

They are not basing it on current science. We know the maximum incubation period for PCR testing to catch 100% is 48 hours, and that vaccinated people dont pose a healthcare system risk, and that their statistical chance of carrying asymptomatically is approaching zero [never had a case but theoretically possible]

Trinidads approach is right, shun non vaccinated people or give them rigorous quarantine. Test vaccinated people and once tested they can roam.

Here we get 500 tourists per day, vaccinated and non, and have for 6 months had zero outbreaks and caught a few positives at the border or while in 2 days quarantine. It works and is minimally troublesome for people.

BTW the uk is seeing a big surge, 80 thousand cases a day recently, but its 10-20 a day dying and those are almost all unvaccinated or having serious other issues.

I think it's political BS everywhere in the world. Let's face it, the "current science" changes every week or so - young children, pregnant women and women with heavy periods... and just about every government in the world recognises a different "current science". The term is used to hoax their respective publics into believing that their current science is the correct one - so I tend to discount them all.

As I've said before, I will join the vaccine-experiment a bit further down the line. As for compulsion, I'm pro-choice. My body, my choice - whatever the context, pretty much!

Well the bug has arrived here with a vengance. Yesterday we had almost 300 new cases [populations only 115k.]

The government naturally locked down everyone/thing as much as it dared, a cowardly act as it doesnt actually limit the bug. As we know only too well only vaccination impacts its levels/attack, but with civil liberties in mind they feel it better to lock everyone up, rather than limit those who prefer to be able to infect others more efficiently / become a danger to the almost non existent healthcare system.

People are of course now scared and running to be vaccinated - imho we will run short of vaccines pretty quickly.

Well, your vaccines are given to you free of charge by the UK goverment, so if you run out, I'm pretty sure the UK government will deliver more to the Cayman Islands government if they so request.

I am a bit perplexed why your government are not learning from its neighbours. Even the Barbados government have given up with lockdowns because they know it just doesn't work.

Although I suspect the overreliance on tourism and insanely high levels of debt may have also contributed to the decision to stop considering lockdowns over here.

This is not the caymans, its Grenada. Our vaccines come in small amounts from the global covax charity, or are purchased. There is no shortage of vaccine, what there is, is people who dont want to take it. anyway our lockdowns ae over, just the ridiculous curfews.
