HI, I am considering a job in bermuda (Hamilton I think), salary is $84k or thereabouts. I have a partner (we are not married) who would come with me. We would only really need a 1 or 2 bed apartment to rent, would he need to work too? He works in the motor trade over here, are there big car dealerships in bermuda?
sorry for all the questions but we really want to make an informed choice as obviously it'll be a big move...leaving a doggy and a vintage car behind lol
thank you, Mel

A one bedroom apartment will cost you $2k/month at the very least, and at least $3k for a 2 bedroom. As a rule of thumb, generally people pay at least $1,500 each for accomodation, usually more. Then of course the cost of living is high ($5 for a loaf of bread say, $7-10 for a drink out in town).
There are motor dealerships, which tend to struggle to find mechanics, if that's what he's looking for - maybe contact them directly - if it's sales work, there's very little chance of securing a work permit as it wouldn't be considered skilled work. Hope this helps.

You need to be married and then he would be a non working spouse unless he independently applies (and gets accepted) for a work permit.
All jobs have to be filled by islanders first.... he is unlikely to find work.
$84k is not enough.... rent can be $4k per month.
