Health Service for "older persons"
As a very new boy here - joined five minutes ago - I may be asking old questions. Sorry!
Having looked at all manner of web info, I can't find a way to get reliable (or any) info on the transferability or otherwise of Health Service entitlements from UK into any Caribbean Island.
This is a must for us as we need warmer climes than northern Europe. I am 63 and my wife has a history of cancer. These things make private health insurance not viable.
We can probably slip straight into the French islands under EU rules, but do not like the attitude of the locals - how can people be so miserable in all that sun?

My late father suffered from cancer and returned to the UK to recieve treatment under the NHS. You even have to check how lomg you can be living permanetly outside of the UK before you lose your automatic entightlement to treatment umder the NHS.
Your other option is to pay privately in the Caribbean which can be quite costly depending on the treatment.
I hope others will be able to give you a bit more advice on this matter.

Welcome to the forums!
You would have to pay for private insurance, and as pgtips quite rightly said, it is costly. My mom did look into getting coverage through bupa, as they do internation medical care, but it comes out to about 2,000 quid per year. There is another company, that is based on St Lucia - called Sagicor, so you could try them to get medical insurance and see how much they offer, they do have a number of different tariffs available.
Hope that helps.
