Thanks all. Heading to Hampshire, probably Fleet.
It's hubby who might kick off the Gardiner massacre! Down to two lanes with construction, plus a conked out truck reducing it to one = 2.5 hour commute. I happily sped by on the express Go from Clarkson = 22 mins
I will try and catch up on here. Been busy working hard, but I've missed all the drama ;-)

All the very best. It's a lot easier to settle back in than you think.

Thinking of doing the same after 9.5 years, from Burlington to England, winter definitely did me in too!

In 2011, 2012, and again in 2013 Hart district, of which Fleet is the main town, was voted the best place to live in the UK by the Halifax Quality of Life study, above areas such as Elmbridge in Surrey and Wokingham in Berkshire. This is due to the highly affluent majority of the population, better weather and health conditions, high levels of access to leisure space and the towns situation surrounded by countryside

I'm actually quite surprised at how many people are thinking about going back. I guess once you've moved about a bit it's fairly easy to it one more time.

Hello all,
Long time, no see. Just hit the 9 year mark, but heading home as soon as the house has sold.
Life's great here, but not enough family time (lack of vacation and the bloody Gardiner commute), and missing family and friends back in the UK. I think this winter did us in, and now decision made, no looking back.
6 year old Canadian daughter is busy practicing her fake English accent. Let's see how that goes :-)
