Default 17 years today

Well hubby and i and our 2 (now deceased dogs) arrived in Ottawa this time 17 years ago. Wow where did the time go!

Loves: the space, the countryside, the friends we have made,
Not so loves : the winters brrrr, miss remaining family in UK, miss some UK food

We have found Canada to be very challenging and if you move here, you MUST be prepared to take a step backwards in your jobs before you can move on and up again.

Getting closer to retirement and have great plans to spend winters down south in RV.

Your outlook and attitude towards Canada sounds very similar to mine....good advice to anyone who wants to make a sucess of settling here
You miss the same things as me, but we knew this before we moved, again you have to be prepared for this, and also make the most of what Canada has that the UK doesn't, which sounds like exactly what you are doing.

Not sure Canada is as challenging as the UK, unless your in your 20s or 30s and a graduate, forgot the career path in an fmcg. I found Canada respect experience .....
