Well me the hubby and 2 kids have been here 14 weeks now and i hope this story will help others not to give up here goes.
We arrived in calgary on April 14th, we had transfered all of our savings via bank transfer we had a house lined up in Calgary and Hubbys job was all sorted.
When we arrived and payed a visit to the RBC there was no money in the account, for reasons unknown the RBC had refused the tranaction and sent it back to the UK into a bank account we had closed and suprise suprise the Nationwide didnt know where it was!!.
The house we had aggreed to rent via email and telephone conversations had gone ( nice of them to let us know) and last but not least my hubby went to meet his new employer, only to find out that the company had gone into recivership 9 days before!!.
Needless to say after a few tears and OMG what have we done, we are still here.
Myself and hubby found new jobs ,we managed to find a house to rent 1 week before the furniture got here and having made loads of phone calls at stupid aclock we located our money.
The morral of my post is no matter what is thrown at you if you want something bad enough you can make it work, dont give up it will work out in the end.
On a light note this is the best thing we could have ever done as a family, we are loving Calgary!!

OMG, what a start! We had the same thing happen with our money but, fortunately, in our case, we were still in the UK at the time and hadn't closed our UK account. What a worry though!
Glad it all seems to be working out for you now though and glad also that you are enjoying it over here. We love it too; no regrets!

What job did you get when you got to calgary? I ask because the job I do in UK, the qualifications in Canada are far higher so I am going to have to re invent myself, and how did the kids adjust?

Well Done!!!!
From having that lot thrown at you all and getting through it by sheer determination, you are obviously up to the challenge of emigrating and doing what you have done
You will do well in Canada, Best of luck from Loraine and I.
