I've just picked up a back issue of the Emigrate Canada newspaper from April, and it included a paragraph saying that at that time the UK embassy was currently processing SW applications from April 2005 - ie those submitted 24 months earlier. It also said that they normally asked for updated documents four months before they dealt with the applications.
We applied for SW in March 2006, so am I right in thinking that, based on this information, the embassy could process our application in March 2008, and might be asking for updated documents this November/December?
We were prepared for a much longer wait (maybe another two years or more, making a total wait of three to four years), but it would really cheer us up if the figures in the article are roughly accurate.
I do know waiting times of 4+ years have been quoted on BE lately, but can anybody give us a bit of good news and tell me that my calculations are right?
If not, or if I've misunderstood, fair enough, and we'll just go on longing for the big day a bit more... Waiting can feel a little lonely sometimes, and it would be nice to hear anything positive

I can't believe that you will be out here in 2 years, sorry.
Have a look at the actual time lines for London here

This is as up to date as you can get and the processing times at the minute seam to be going up exponentially!

However, remember that London processes applications from about a dozen countries, and many will take much longer than British applicants for background checks and the like.

just a thought... there has been the change to the simplified application process in september 2006 (if i remember it right all places but buffalo?). i'm actually not sure what this 4+ years you're talking about refer to...
if you have the chance to do so: a job offer speeds the process up.
