Default Would this scenario work

We got our P.R. Status 2 years ago, we had a few family issues so the move was put on hold, we now have until next April (2013) to move or lose our P.R. Stautus. Our daughter is just starting her options year, so it would be academic suicide to move her now, If I was to move & my wife & daughter followed in say a couple of years, obviously I would retain my P.R. Status, but would there re-application be looked on more favourably????

If I dont try it I feel I will regret it for the rest of my life, if I try it & it dosent work, then at least I tried. But I dont want to jepodise my daughters education.

All views welcome.

Hmmmm.......similar sort of thing happened to us.......we wanted to wait until my son did his GCSEs......however, he became very ill just before the exams and ended up diagnosed with two chronic illnesses (stable now, thank goodness). Then my mother died, leaving my poorly father.

My point to you is there is never a 'right time' to go.....we just kept putting our move on hold because things came up but right now, even though we still have some issues, we decided that life is too short.

Your daughter is only at the options stage, I personally would head out now with your family. She will most likely be put back a year to catch up (from what I've heard but don't quote me) and she WILL be okay.

There'll be others that disagree but that's just our experience and how we feel about it having been through hell and back.

Good luck with whatever you decide!

ps......if your wife and daughter re-apply, wouldn't that take years to come to fruition? Not sure of the rules here but I thought an expired PR was an expired PR, whatever the circumstances.....from our own experience, we couldn't afford to maintain two lifestyles but I know not what your situation is. You've got me thinking about your situation now and I'm just trying to think of as many things that would make me just go ahead and do it. My two penneth.........

I don't believe their application at a later date would be looked on more or less favourably.

You all move and your daughter has to readjust to a new school. Don't know her age, but here they graduate at 18 from Grade 12. Grade 10 is considered flunking out and you cannot go to college with grade 10.

You move and your daughter has to deal with one parent being away and the emotional turmoil.

Whichever way you do it, neither is good. You may want to ask your daughter.

I lived and worked away from my family for a while (which is a really long story), me in Calgary them in the UK. Fortunately I saw them for four days several times a month if I could the route, it was still hard.

Three or 4 years from now the OP could be a citizen and sponsor a spouse anyway, but the daughter would probably no longer be considered a dependent, so all bets would be off as far as that went.
