And don't forget the snow brush with inbuilt ice scraper. Available at Canadian tire....(isn't everything ?)
Even us townies who never go outside the 401 need at least this and a shovel in the SUV.

Well, the car stuff is an entire other thread altogether.
How do you drive "outside" the 401? Its a great long strung out thing.
dbd would probably take offence at the suggestion you need any more than a credit card wide strip to look out of anyway

Now I see why Spanish vacations are so popular with the masses.Rich.

You know I mean anywhere north of Richmond Hill, West of Mississauga or east of Scarborough - they have real snow up there apparently.
Joking aside I drove to Parry Sound a few weeks back (beautiful places up there) to see my kids at camp.
It's only when you start to drive out a bit you realise how BIG this country really is, and how beautiful.
Of course I considered Parry Sound to be Northen Ontario, until some friends put me straight. "Drive for another two hours north and then you get to the very southern tip of Northern Ontario". LOL

Oh, I was just reminded of a guy I saw when I went up to the CHC to pick up my visa. He was waiting to be called by the immigration officers. He was wearing motorcycle leathers and there was a helmet on the chair next to him.
........... and he was "reading" a braille book!!! :scared:
I took the train home.

Ok this is coming from a Canadian girl
You can buy your clothes where ever you like, just have layers and keep your feet warm.
Thinking back now and you have got me laughing. I used to dress to impress as a teenager and wore next to nothing in -40 weather. I always had back up stuff in the car though
. Matter of life and death, really. I can hear Memere (grandma) now going into fits whenever she saw me. I would go around in January with no socks on and in a jean jacket. God I must have looked cool!

But it can be tough with children. Canada is very seasonal- try finding replacement raincoats for a kid now. Try replacing snowpants in January or February. The best place to find them is sometimes only at the second hand stores.

Winnipeg seems to be different to other shopping centres as I don't recall having a problem looking for seasonal clothes for any of the four kids. But perhaps because I'm not a label shopper and buy from the large chains that have "last until they are out grown" policy so need replacing take them back and get them to worry about finding the replacements.
Failing that then theres always the cleaance stores like hangers, Winners, The bay basement in downtown.
