Steven Harper on the other hand looks like he spent last night on the couch. Holy Crap, I though George Bush had aged quickly in power...

Oooh, they're going to be in Calgary for 21 whole hours.
Basically the only way you will see them is if you live downtown or stick it out overnight to get a decent spot on the parade route I reckon. I think I'll watch it on TV. Very impressed they are going to a citizenship ceremony - imagine standing up to take the oath, with the future heirs to the throne in the room. Happy Canada Day folks! |

Re: William and Kate on tour
Awwwww we made a trip over to PEI to see the Royals as my birthday trip. Historical Charlottetown is very pretty and a fantastic setting for their walkabout. Although there was a lot of people there, the population is not huge so it was really easy to get a great view of the couple. There was a real air of excitement and I was thrilled to see the couple up close.
While standing around I chatted to Ben Fogle (now reporting for NBC) and Simon Vigar (reporting for Channel 5 UK). The very beautiful and elegant Mary Nightingale (ITN) was chatting to the ladies in front of me and so was Ben Mulrooney (eTalk). Jeff Hutchison (CTV) interviewed me after the walkabout. Don't know if it went out live or was left on the cutting room floor ;) The ferry is only a 15 minute drive from New Glasgow to the island and is a 70 minute crossing. It's very popular with locals here. PEI is very beautiful and Charlottetown being a university town is big enough to have lots of big box stores a couple of miles away from the city centre and retain the charm of the historical downtown with lots of restaurants, quaint stores and a marina. PEI is defintely somewhere I can see myself living. Who knows what what the future holds eh ;) |
Re: William and Kate on tour
I wonder who plans these trips ?? and what thought goes into where they go and what they do. Yes I can imagine the Calgary Stampede stuff to be fun, but the other stuff:confused::blink: These are young newly weds on Holiday, so where is the fun stuff, or have the organizers run out of ideas so lets go to yet another dead soldier memorial. Does Canada have nothing better to offer these 2 than one memorial after the other, and how many times do they need to meet Harper & Wife coz they did that on PEI.

Don't think Harper was on PEI. William and Kate were welcomed by PEI Premier Robert Ghiz. |

Well if you have read anything about the trip itinireray, you will have known that Cathrine confessed that she is an Ann of Green Gables fan, and wanted to visit the area

We managed to shake hands with Prince William in Ottawa - He was just lovely! Can't believe how close we were to him and Kate.
My 12 year old daughter was very impressed that she shook hands with the future King! Would load pics but not sure how to on here! B:thumbup: |
