If you buy some oppulent palace with high property taxes and large heating bills, and drive round in an real gas guzzler with high insurance it might be a struggle too.
I dont earn a lot more than that and my mortgage takes about 7 or 8k a year out of my net income, but at least I dont have car payments right now.
Hangman, Beautiful picture...I've come over all broody, cant wait for January and our second girl to arrive
Its a bit unfair though to label someones personal experiences as uninformed I think, they are just different experiences to yours or mine. Bad things can happen to new immigrants here unfortunatly, and its good for people to know that. Doesnt mean it will happen, and people have to make there own minds up based on balanced research.

I only ever met one person that told the truth; a mother referring to her baby. "Ugliest thing I ever saw....". She obviously hadn't met my sister in law.

Its very hit and miss thought, and perhaps only covers jobs filled through the HRDC job bank service.
Otherwise there are other salary expectation guides out there which are probably better, two i remember are
salary.monster.ca
and
www.salaryexpert.com
the first has negotiation tips, and the second has cost of living comparisons too for what its worth.

for me its simple... I like both countries, I see little or no significant differences between the two on average.. and I’ve done about 4 years now in Canada and my wife and child are Canadian, and it wasn’t that long ago when I working in the UK too…
and even if I took that job back in the UK and an even better one turned up in Canada I move right back again…
Most of the Brit/Canada bashing is done by those frustrated by their current situation.
Most using it as a self justification for their current decisions…
My realization has been if you’re happy it doesn’t matter where you are, and the same goes if you’re unhappy….and more often than not moving won’t change that either

Anywhere outside the GTA is cheaper, that is why we are looking for somewhere that will allow us to live that surburbia life, and still be able to drive into toronto for work.

Each time the response was yes, its possible but not necessarily what you would order if given the choice.
Cut cloth to suit as they say.

I agree totally.
I am loving it here, just occasionally remember to have a quick look in here but with all the things to do and fantastic people I have met showing me around and inviting me for meals etc I have nowhere near the time available to come in that I had when in the UK.

Just to say i am guilty of not coming on the forum much since arriving in canada, but only because it is so much nicer to sit outside and look at the scenery than a computer screen.
We love it here, we live from pay check to paycheck and are skint the day after payday, but who cares when you have deers strolling through the garden.
I think the people who are critical of canada prob didnt do their homework in the first place.
Canada's Great, those of you waiting.....its well worth the wait
