Default Who do we fly with now?

We visited NS in the summer of 2007 and flew with ZOOM, we were very happy with them and said we would fly with them again. Sadly this will not happen now since they went out of business last year.

We wish to start planning for our 2010 visit but who do we fly with?

Can anyone help, we are looking for a direct flight to Halifax and at as close to Zoom prices.

If anyone can help BE can.

You're a bit optimistic. Your choice is between Air Canada and Air Transat/Thomas Cook (seasonal). You won't get cheap.

Hi,
after getting zoomed by zoom last year,we found Flyglobespan were the cheapest for our reccie this coming August.
Our flight is from Glasgow direct to Halifax ,cost £1710 for the 4 of us.Not sure if they fly from other UK airports direct to Halifax.

Thanks, we have looked into Air Transit and if we booked for Aug 2010 - 2 adults, 1 child over 2 and 1 under 2 = £1296 i don't think that is too bad. We paid around £1100 in 2007 for 2 adults and a child over 2.

All that concerns us is do we wait and price may rise or book early and find the carrier could follow Zoom and go out of business.

If we booked by credit card would we be safe?

That, i'm afraid, is for you to decide. My crystal ball only sees 3 months in advance.

If you pay by CC you "should" be fine, but don't quote me on that.

I'm pretty sure credit cards would cover you if the carrier went out of business. We were booked with Canada 3000 back in 2001 when it went out of business, paid via credit card and got all of the money refunded.

Air Transat have been around a while now. We are heading out to Halifax on 2 July through Canadian Affair - I think it's Thomas Cook's airline. We fly from Gatwick and the total cost was about £1000 (for four)

The flight is unlikely to be with Air Transat, even if you book with them. It will probably be Thomas Cook. The two are linked. The fares look quite good.

Always, always book airline tickets and holidays with a credit card.

AT and TC are probably quite safe. Zoom was just a small low-cost airline. The other two are much bigger, stronger organisations.

We booked last week. It was the last flight before the prices were bumped up for the summer. As of 3 July the flights go up to about £340 per person.

Hello,
if you book by credit card you are covered if airline goes bust, but dont expect to be covered by your holiday insurance most insurance companies have a get out clause

As one of the posters above mentioned, you're probably Ok with Transat. They are not just an airline but part of a wider travel company, with a healthy retail presence in Canada, much like Thomas Cook in the UK.

Canadian Affair as a booking agent can book with various airlines, including Transat, Thomas Cook and the former MyTravel (now a part of Thomas Cook). They also book internal Canadian flights with WestJet.
