The answer is Hong Kong - how it got there we have no idea - but we were told by the agents in Calgary today that the container has been opened in Hong Kong and the people who thought it was their stuff were as surprised as us. Does anyone know the transit time between Hong Kong and Canada!!!!!:curse:

Where was it intended?
It might be 30 days from HK to Vancouver, but then you've gotta factor in another 3 weeks or so if you're in Nova Scotia or something.
That's a really shitty thing to have happened. Hope you're able to cope in the meantime and get some compensation in return...

Hi there all - we used Pickfords, we had a feeling all was not well when they turned up at my sisters house in UK looking for a packing list!!! They claimed two stories - one they could not read their copy and then to the agent in CA they did not have a copy! We are actually in Lethbridge so it could be months yet.

YOu have all my sympathies!!
I have posted a number of times saying how awful Pickfords were with us....Packed badly - to the point that we needed a bigger container than they quoted us for...But didn't tell us that 'til it was packed and ready to go. Then, when we argued it all they basically told us that they had our stuff and we had to pay if we wanted it!!! THEN....(it goes on!!) it was six weeks late and delivered to Montreal instead of Vancouver so took even longer to get to us in Calgary....We were opening boxes and finding two or three things in them - no wonder we needed more space. All in all they charged us almost double what they first quoted and we had no choice but to pay it....
As I have said any number of times - Don't use Pickfords!!!!
Good luck. I do hope it all works out!!!

3 weeks from HK to vancouver, thats if the box can get on the first available ship,,container space is usual booked well in advance
Then what do you think canada customs are going to think about the whole story, yup very fishy, so dont be surprised if they want a full turn out and tally
Pickfords will most certanly try and pass the buck, onto who ever poss, so hope you have some kind of insurance on the load.. good luck

Awful. it's the sort of thought that goes through your head and then you dismiss it on a "you're worrying over nothing" basis. Well, seemingly not. One hopes you can smile over it in time...but one would imagine, not for a very, very long time indeed. Karma coming your way.

People we know here - their container went via China too - probably Hong Kong. I think there was a delay of nearly a month - complete pain but it all arrived OK. Best wishes. What a palava (sp?).

We have now been told that the container won't leave HK until 18th Feb - Pickfords have tried to allay our fears about it being opened in a secure compound but to be honest I don't take anything they say seriously now, I did threaten with Ombudsman, newspapers and media and that seems to have worked so far, they were on the phone to us within 20mins of that e-mail. I feel everything will be ok but moving into an absolutely empty house on 27th actually fills me with dread - but Pickfords WILL BE picking up the tab for things we have to buy, everything from cutlery to bedding etc.
