Whats going on?...

Whats going on?...
We are coming over to 'land' in July and wondered what the 'not to be missed' events in Calgary, Vancouver, Kelowna and Victoria Island are in July/August? Does anyone have a schedule or an idea of significant events that may interest a visiting family during this period?
Is there football, bonspiels, baseball, fairs, parades etc?
Big request but we would love to see some of the life in the areas before we make a choice on where to live next year?

Calgary Stampede obviously - July 2nd to 12th - consider pre-booking hotel or B&B accommodation though beforehand. Worth a giggle, if only to see 500,000 people wearing stetsons.

Canada day was fun in Vancouver 2 years back... the festival out at Canada Place and then the fireworks in the evening we found fun... there again I'm sure out the burbs it'd be a bit more fun with local festivals but others can comment on that!

Re: Whats going on?...
I have to say if you want to do things like the suspension bridge then look for alternatives thanthe usual tourist ones especially that time of year as they'll be packed... We loved Lynn Valley park as alternative to Capilano as it's free and a lot less touristy. We caught the bus from the north quay which has it's own food market.
Kitsilano is good for a mooch about on a hot summers day.
We also loved Bard on the Beach... Would def reccomend that... OH normally hates that type of thing and loved it!

Oh yeah Bard on the Beach, always a great evening out. Nothing like it with the open back of the stage allowing the view of sunset over the ocean and mountains. Love it!!!!
Also go do some hikes further out, go sea the eagles chomping on some salmon for example. My father-in-laws garden guarantees Black Bear viewing between May & September if you're around the Whonnock area of Maple Ridge, BC.
