Default What r the impacts of the Canadian government down

HI all,
Now that, we heard that the government will be changed, What do u guys think the impacts of the change in immigration policy. Will the pass mark get raised as a first step action by the new Governmnet?? will... willl ... will...
BTW, at least 500,000 out of 800,000 back log in CIC offices will be cleared if the pass mark got raised

Ideas are highly appreciated.

Regards,

Could be anything. The few news reports I've read seem to expect another Liberal minority government in which case presumably no change for now, but who knows what would happen if another party won?

As I said, that article puts the Liberals ahead, but with no chance of them forming a majority: they may be wrong, of course.

I hope the liberals do get in again, I think that Joe Volpe is doing a fairly good job, and hes been in what a year and hasnt been plagued my scandal as yet!

Plus the conservatives are hardly Immigration freindly. and good old Jack Layton couldnt make a decision to save his life!

Regards,

Government in Canada is shared between the Fed and the Provinces. The Feds let immigrants in but what happens to them afterward (employment opportunities etc.) is very much up to the Provinces.

For those of us wishing to convert sterling into Can $ it would just be nice if a little political uncertainty improved the rate of exchange, when you're buying a house it makes a heck of a difference.

Hopefully with all the hot air its going to be a warm dec / Jan.

Ever notice how little governing is done during the lead up to an election?

Some people will be getting a early pension for being MPs for about a year.

Actually, a lot of bills seemed to be put through in the dying days, and Volpe was definitely making a lot of announcements (which will come to nothing if the Liberals are not elected again....)

But in this season of goodwill - will the political parties be giving us tidings of comfort and joy ?! I suspect it will be mudslinging until 23rd January!

The fall of the government was well priced into the market. You can see that the dollar was almost unchanged on the day after the vote and has not moved since. Now that the government has fallen, the market can move to other topics. Higher interest rates in Canada over the next six months will continue to reduce the value of the pound in CAD terms.

Federal MP's are not entitled to a pension after serving in this case 17 months. Federal MP's must serve 6 years to qualify for a pension, which in most cases means winning two elections.
