On edit: Oakville/Burlington/Ajax/Whitby/Brampton/etc.

In your opinion.

Of course. I'm not about to type other people's opinions, they have keyboards.

It may not be your cup of tetley, but it's just dandy for others. Those others don't appreciate your continual scathing remarks of where they live and their homes.

If everywhere in the GTA is vile, why do you still live on it's outskirts??

The GTA is comprised of Toronto, Durham, Halton, Peel and York. Guelph is located in Wellington County. The transition between being in the GTA and entering Wellington County is palpable.

Well, having lived for some years in Toronto (house in Beach, condo on the Esplanade, house in Leslieville), on a hobby farm north of Orangeville, in Mississauga (flat in Port Credit, house in Lorne Park) and in small town Ontario (Guelph) I have, at least, tried a variety of options. When I say the least appealing, to me, is the "nowhere in particular" suburbs, I do so knowing something of the subject.

There are older neighbourhoods (and I live in pretty much the oldest) which are not shit-holes, merely surrounded by them.

They have lived in the Town for about 25 years, perhaps as long or longer than you, and in an old neighbourhood. They may well be your neighbours and know who you are but I'll leave that question unanswered. They, as I suspect with you, are not enthusiasts of all the surrounding development but as I say to them and to you, too bad, so sad.

I think one of the problems most of us face is the choice between where we really want to live and where we need to live because of work. Those that can achieve both (at the same time) are very lucky.
