Hey everyone, Im off to vancouver in november on a reccie and was hoping to arrange to meet up with a few employers, just wondering if this letter would be ok to send off, any suggestions/constructive criticism welcome.
Dear Sir
I am currently employed in the Isle of Man as an industrial electrician and enclose my resume for your information.
I have been granted a permanent residence visa and I will be travelling to Vancouver on the 24th November to activate it, returning to the Island on the 6th December.
I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to meet with you to discuss any opportunities that may arise within your company.
I am aware that new immigrants have six months to challenge for Red Seal certification and I intend to apply for the examination as soon as I arrive.
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter, any information about the industry in Vancouver/British Columbia would be greatly appreciated.
Yours faithfully

Futher to Iains point
"Vancouver on the 24th November to activate it, returning to the Island on the 6th December"
I believe many would just assume you would be returning to Vancouver island from the mainland

Dear Sir or Madam
Presently, I am employed in the UK as an industrial electrician, but I am looking to move to the Vancouver area as soon as I can.
As a permanent resident I can accept any offer of employment in Canada. I will be visiting Vancouver between November 24th and December 6th this year. During this visit I hope to find a place to live and to learn about employment opportunities for industrial electricians in The Lower Mainland.
I will greatly appreciate the opportunity to meet with you briefly on an informal basis to learn about your company and ask your advice on how I should go about finding employment opportunities.
I am aware that new residents have six months to challenge for Red Seal certification and I intend to apply for the examination as soon as possible.
My resume is enclosed for your information.
Yours truly

Actually, you may have a point. I'm not sure the The should be capitalized, but the L and M definitely should. It depends on whether or or not the area really called The Lower Mainland or just Lower Mainland.
Edit: on further research it should be the (small t) Lower Mainland.
