That excuse doesn't wash here in BC.... there are so many parks, the population gets divided.

We went to Balcarra this weekend and got parking right next to the picnic area.

We were stuck in traffic for precisely zero seconds. :D

It never washed for me in the UK either, but it doesn't stop people using it...

Hi all,

Looking for some help please. We are looking into the possibility of emigrating to Canada. My sister tried Vancouver 2 years ago and it did not work out (not for want of trying). This however is not going to deter us. We are a family of 4 (36, 31, 7, and 2). We have set a target of 12 to 24 months to have everything prepared in England (home sale cars sold etc) in preparation. I feel getting into Canada could be our stumbling block. My experience (work wise) has been in logistics for the last 18 years. All office based. My partner is a child minder (very good one at that) who has experience working in a hospital as and auxiliary Nurse in care homes with the elderly and children with learning difficulties. if need be i can tile and plaster (would use this initially but would not wish to do this long term unless the work was coming out of my ears). What would be our chances as they stand now? Is there work? How is child care in Canada? Is their anything we can do in the next 12 months to better our chances. Are there any young families out there prepared to tell us their story as to how they coped. If we do this i cannot afford to fail my kids. Many thanks in advance

Canada is a big country, so there is no one answer to any question.
One approach is to consider what sort of life style you want then narrow the country down to areas which would offer you that life style. Once you have done that research carefully, house prices, jobs, schools etc.

Vancouver is a beautiful city, but it is one of the most expensive in the world. Do you want to live in a city? Would you prefer a smaller community? Do you like a more temperate climate, can you cope with high humidity or would you prefer a drier climate, are you happy to live at +40C to -40C? Are you an outdoors man?

All these questions can help you narrow down what you are really seeking.

Of course, there is no guaranteeing that you can have what you want, but knowing what you would want can help direct you or at least make a stay somewhere you do not want to be more tolerable when you see it as a means to an end.

Good luck.

pffffffftttt................ I went to Vancouver parks and Banff Parks in July last year - very very busy but easy peasy to drive to and a doddle to park even with the RV.. You wanna try driving up to and parking in say the Lake District for the day in July here (if it is sunny!!!!), and as for seaside resorts up here it can be a nightmare!!!!

At one point, before we were married, my husband and I were working in places so far apart that we had to meet in the middle for the weekends. The middle was the Lake District. We would camp and walk; but for some reason every weekend we decided to meet up there it was an English Bank holiday!!!!!!!!

It was not difficult to believe that the English really do out number us by 10 to 1; they all went hill walking in the Lakes.
