Question Visa to enter UK

I realise this forum is for UK immigration to Canada but wondered if anyone would have information pertaining to immigration from Canada to UK. I am a Canadian Citizen and have been staying in England visiting my fiance for 3 months and intend to return to Canada in 2 weeks to apply 'in person' for a fiance visa. I have completed the VAF2 SETTLEMENT form and have attached all relevant documentation, including 3 months of my fiance's bank statements, letter from her Housing Association giving me permision to reside with her, and proof of her Income Support and Housing Benefit, plus my own proof of savings etc. I have also thoroughly read the British High Commission website and the INF 4 Guidelines. http://www.britain-in-canada.org/Visa/settlement.htm and read the INF4 guidelines http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/servlet/Fr...=1018721067257

Please could anyone answer the following 3 questions:

1. I am confident I have prepared the required information with my completed application form for fiance visa (VAF2)... can I apply 'IN PERSON' for a settlement (fiance) visa in order to receive it the same day? or does this type of application take longer.

(The British high Commission website states 'straightforward applications made in person are normally processed the same day', then goes on to say that 'straightforward settlement applications are normally processed within 10 working days', so I am a bit confused as to whether settlement visas can also be processed same day if straightforward).

The website also states: "Note: certain categories of entry clearance applications may have to be referred to either the Home Office or to UKvisas in London or deferred to our UK Post in the applicants' home country. This process can take several weeks or months."

2. Whilst my fiance is on Income Support and Housing Benefit (she has 5 children), I will not be adding to her claim in any way and can show the means to support myself. Will the fact that she is on Income Support effect my application, even though I can demonstrate that I won't be claiming or increasing her existing claim?

The rules on INF4 state the following:
To qualify as a fiancé or fiancée you must show that:

(A) There is somewhere for you and any dependants to live until you get married without help from public funds.

(B) You and any dependants can be supported without working or having recourse to public funds.

3. Am I required to bring along photocopies of all original documents that need to be presented to the high commission?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Dan
